The Indianapolis Jazz Collective returns as a powerhouse ensemble of the city’s elite jazz talent, led by Indy Jazz Fest Artistic Director Rob Dixon. This special performance honors the legendary Wes Montgomery, bringing together a lineup of Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Famers, including pianist Steve Allee, bassist Jon Wood, and drummer Kenny Phelps.
Bridging the past and future of the Naptown sound, this tribute features a powerhouse guitar trio representing the evolution of the Indianapolis tradition. Veteran Steve Weakley brings the authentic "grease" and blues feel of the Montgomery legacy, while Graham Helft contributes contemporary sophistication and technical precision rooted in the city's jazz history. Joel Tucker completes the lineup with an inventive, melodic approach that keeps the performance modern and engaging. Together, these three guitarists create a cross-generational dialogue that honors Indiana Avenue while pushing the music forward.
